Dangerous Goods Acceptance Checklist

Purpose. Freight acceptance staff complete this checklist for every dangerous goods consignment offered for carriage, recording the checks made and the acceptance or refusal decision.
1.When to use this checklist
Complete one checklist for every shipper's declaration presented. The checklist is retained with the declaration for the period the regulations require and is available to the pilot in command and to auditors.
2.Checking the declaration
Work through the declaration line by line against the Technical Instructions. Confirm the proper shipping name, UN number, class or division, packing group, quantity per package and the number of packages. Confirm that the packing instruction and the passenger or cargo aircraft limits match the aircraft that will carry the consignment.
3.Checking the packages
Inspect every package for marking, labelling, specification marks, orientation arrows and condition. Any discrepancy between the declaration and the packages means refusal.
4.Recording the decision
Record accepted or refused, the reason for any refusal, your name and the time. Refused consignments are moved to quarantine and the shipper is advised in writing.
5.After acceptance
Enter the consignment in the dispatch record for the flight, prepare the notification to the pilot in command and advise the ramp team leader of the loading position.
