Purpose. This policy describes the transport security obligations of SkyBridge under the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004 and the security controls applied to aircraft, airside areas, passengers, baggage and freight.

1.Purpose

SkyBridge holds an approved transport security program. This policy summarises the program's controls so that every worker understands their part in preventing unlawful interference with aviation. The full program is a controlled document with restricted distribution.

2.Airside access

Only persons holding a valid aviation security identification card or an approved visitor pass under escort will enter airside areas. Cards must be displayed above the waist at all times airside. Workers must challenge any person airside without a visible card and must report the person to the ramp team leader.

3.Aircraft security

Aircraft must not be left unattended airside with doors open. A security search of the cabin and holds will be completed before the first flight of the day and after any period during which the aircraft was not under the control of SkyBridge staff. Cockpit access is limited to crew and authorised persons.

4.Passengers, baggage and freight

Check-in staff must ask the dangerous goods and security questions at every check-in and must record the answers. Unattended baggage is reported immediately and not moved. Freight will be accepted only from known consignors or after examination as the program requires.

  • Ask and record the security questions at check-in
  • Match every checked bag to a boarded passenger
  • Report unattended items without touching them
  • Accept freight only under the known consignor or examination rules

5.Reporting security incidents

Security incidents and breaches, including tailgating through an airside gate, a lost aviation security identification card or a disruptive passenger, must be reported to the ramp team leader or duty manager immediately and recorded in the safety reporting system as a security occurrence. Serious incidents will be reported to the regulator within the required time.

6.Training

All staff will complete security awareness training at induction and annually. Staff who screen, accept freight or control airside access will hold the additional qualifications the program requires.
